Drydocking

GHS is often used to check the stability of a floating drydock/ship combination. It is easy to combine the separate geometrical models of the dock and the ship into one model with the ship located in the proper position and orientation.

The deballasting sequence can then be readily examined with the stability being checked at every stage.

Longitudinal bending of the ship can also be examined as it grounds on the blocks during a drydocking operation.

** Note: The Multi-body (MB) module is ideally suited for drydocking calculations. The MB software can handle multiple floating bodies with points of contact, including ground, between them. Equilibrium of the entire multi-body system is found automatically and the forces at the points of contact are reported.
