Question:

Viscosity: what does it affect and how do I change it?

Answer:

The SEA command uses potential flow theory to compute most of the hydrodynamic forces. This means the flow is inviscid, i.e. viscosity is zero.

Unfortunately, viscosity is responsible for friction forces and eddy formation around the hull and appendages. To account for this, SEAKEEPING includes additional methods that compute these effects and viscosity plays a role in the computation.

The WATER command allows the user to set a value for the dynamic viscosity of the water. This value is automatically set to 1.0 mPa-s for fresh water or 1.1 mPa-s for sea water. See HELP WATER /V for more information.
